Horizontal. This is very fucking horizontal music.

Proper dub. Not psy-dub. Dub. Big dub. Dub so strong it makes Planet Dog sound like Planet S-Club.

Very stoned dub. Very.

I don’t partake of herbs anymore, but this makes me think about changing my mind. It also makes me feel like I’ve been sitting in all afternoon reading High Times and eating sausages. If you know what I mean.

Gaudi’s selection is perfect, and his mixing is smooth (save for the parts where he decides to fuck about a bit, but that’s fine, it’s that sort of music.) The album starts out spacey and gets – erm – spacier.

Zion Train’s track is the best of theirs I’ve ever heard (although to be honest, I generally steer clear of them after their mid 90’s somerset festival thing did my head in a bit), Gaudi’s own Dub Alchemist moniker is hugely promising for the future, and Dubadelic’s Secret Of The Lost Dubplates is fucking fantastic.

I’m more into vocal reggae than dub but I love this, it’s much more involved than a lot of comparable releases, and there’s more of interest here than on those (nevertheless wonderful) Trojan-Upsetter-On-The-Go-Blood&Fire releases you can pick up pretty cheap down the market.

Whether this will float your boat largely depends on how you stand with dub; I know some people who can’t stomach it, and fair enough. It’s not going to scratch the standard Entheogenic-shaped psy-chill itch, that’s for sure.

But if you want to add a bit of bass-heavy culture to your loungeroom, or if you want to start smoking pot again, this is definitely recommended.
