12 Moons Nimbus / Thunderbolt Dragonfly (UK)

12 Moons were right at the front of that little revolution that cleaned up trance and offered that scando, progressive take on things. And it’s reassuring to hear this, sounding as fresh as they did way back then, with some seriously smooth bits of trance roughage. Nimbus is gorgeous, with swirling pads over a mellow stroll of a bassline (note to creative DJ’s – you can mix that Marshall Jefferson acapella over this to a rather nifty effect.) Just as you’d expect 12 Moons to do, it rises and rises before evaporating and making you wish it’d come back. Nice. Thunderbolt is harder, a more sparse affair with beats driven along by topend nuances and cuts, gathering mas cohones before riding out in inimit- inim- inim- real 12 Moons style.
