Back in the day, there was a time when we would have sold our souls to have MWNN’s babies. The purveyor of such classics as Teleport, Sugar Rush, Lunar Cycle, etc etc is finally back out of the woodwork and hot on the heels of a gig-packed 2002, he’s back with a taster from his forthcoming album, as yet unnamed but psyreviews humbly suggests Happy Days Are Here Again as an open-source option. Axis Flip suggests a darker tone to Freeland’s psyche, a chuggy cyclical monster where the swirling takes you down before it takes you back up again, which it duly does after a pleasant 303-splattered breakdown. Lights Out is pure vintage MWNN through a 2003 mangle, with a busy bassline and analog farts aplenty, rising up into a melodic acid drenched storming finale. Yum.
