Reefer Decree Dirty Chip / Paperbox Ayahuasca Records (Denmark)

Having a somewhat pronounced bias towards Reefer Decree, this is automatically good no matter what. To satisfy the more critical corners of the psyreviews massive however, I shall do you all the courtesy of playing the tune before dispensing with the predictable glowing report. Dirty Chip is low-set even by Reefer Decree’s standards, smoothly motoring along like a Miami Vice baddie. By two thirds of the way through RD somehow manage to bring in what sounds like about three tunes all at once, the effect of which is probably likely to confuse a dancefloor except for those despicable psytrance ubergeeks (ahem) who spend most of the evening peering into your DJ box anyway. Paperbox is eight-plus minutes of Reefer Decree at their best, a slow-building boiling-point-touching psychedelic-kaleidoscope of textures, melodies, pokes, jokes, n’ tokes.
