Double Dragon Transparent Plusquam Records

Double Dragon Transparent Plusquam Records

Steve Good aka Double Dragon serves up his 2nd album, Transparent, on Plusquam records. This is a worthy follow-up to his debut ‘Continuum’.This is mighty fine tuneage, with this album having an over all progressive feel with plenty of psy trance FX. The production is clear with plenty of distinctive clean sounds. The opening track 'Bong’ grooves along with some really nice sounding percussion and pulsating rhythms. ‘Resonate’ does exactly what it says, driving the groove along nicely with some breaks and haunting vocal samples.  The haunting sounds continue to open the next track, ‘Doppelganger’ and then quickly make way for a deep psychedelic minimal work out slowly being layered with more sounds. ‘Gravity’ is a chilled out tune with some sweeping synths and plenty of delay and voices over a dub beat. This is certainly a ‘smokin’ tune if ever there was one. The tempo is raised again with ‘Echo’, another percussive groover with a distinctly happy feel to it. It certainly put a smile on my face. ‘Heavy Rotation’ continues the theme of ‘Echo’ with some subtle leads gaining momentum and almost threatening to break into full on psy. Some nice phased drums and distorted vocal samples confirm this. ‘Shine’ on you crazy trancers!!! ‘Shine’ is a decidedly funky little number. Very trippy, with noises coming at you from all directions. I couldn’t keep still to this one. The album closes with ‘Dice’, a perfect example of full on progressive sounds, and a monster of a tune, ideal for when the sun is out and you’ve re-charged yourself. Get ready to dance yourself into oblivion. ‘I’d like to do it again.’
