Wonderer Remixes - Hadshot

Blimey. This is a monster. The track you and I most probably know as Vernon’s Wonderland gets the remix treatment, as well as a timely and welcome re-release on vinyl (so if you own the original copy, now’s the time to feel very pleased with yourself). As well as the belting original version (which let’s face it is a true classic), the remixes are sweet: Son Kite strips it down into a deep, deep groove before escalating it up into textbook son kite, rising up through the ceiling before coming crashing down into psychedelic anthem mode… it’s fucking class, there’s no other way to say it. Kontrasequenz’s mix has dusty german-techno uplights, it’s layered and layered to create a nice stable platform of nicely balanced sound and little flecks of the original. Dogma3000 (on the CD only, not the vinyl) is a sort of silly kraftwerk (actually you could call it daftwerk, ahem) and while it’s not staggering, it sounds alright. Anyway Son Kite’s rework is what’s known in hip hop circles as “da fuckin’bomb”, the original’s wonderful as well, and the other remixes aren’t bad so you might as well get it.
