Green Oms Murphy’s Lore / Mr Boing Dragonfly (UK)

Two cuts from John Om and Dick Trevor, the fabled Green Nun of the Revolution who’s been let off the mothership once again and is starting to output a frighteningly good array of new music (including a Green Oms album before the end of the year.) Murphy’s Lore is a hectic, pacemaker-unfriendly tune with nice organic, semi-didge acidlines and plenty of movement over the top. Some hardcore MC samples pop up and giggle, and there’s a huuuuge Dreamscape-y siren at the break before it all crashes back together for a slightly offset, perfectly-structured and cheekily melodic rock n roll finale brings the house down. Mr Boing is a future-psychedelia little fella, with seriously nice mechanical noises over an organic, alive bassline with sci-fi melodies knocking at the door. The break is deep and brings the tune back in a very oldskool stylee, but the sheer weight of the sawtooth lead is enough to make up for that. Seriously weighty stuff, firmly geared to the dancefloor and as quality as anything the Green Nuns put out. Stop dribbling.
