Antoine Flashback / Homo Sapiens Spiral Trax (Sweden)

Swedish supremo Paul Lachenardière is dipping his 21-year old hands into a lot of different styles, and this sublime tech-trance release comes in parallel to his house, jazz and techno output. One-man-festival he may be, but it doesn’t stop this from being a focused and sharp bit of Scandinavian trance. Flashback is tighter than a mosquito’s backend, with a measured slow-stomp building up to a nice plateau with smooth pads and psychedelic stabs. Homo Sapiens is more of a twisting, gnarly sort of tune with techno echoes layered over a semi-16th bassline, gaining progression from its spot-on percussion and pure-psy growly topend. Impressive stuff.
