Dejavoodo - Underground Sound of Tel Aviv

Lish

Since appearing on USTA’s compilation Dig It, Lish have quietly been making waves and debut album Dejavoodo is a smack-in-the-face entry to the scene. The title track gets things going and it’s clear that these guys know what they’re doing = mechanical, futuristic trance with a kind of robotic symphony vibe. Hollywood Superstar flows nicely and the delayed acid flurries of Kakvo Iskach are delightful. Full party stuff is represented with Elastica (Full-power despite its stripped-down construct) and Insane Cycel (siren-led, linear trance made to be mixed), culminating in the wonderful Under Mixed Sky: a huge, huge acid line over a tight and smooth bass, it rocks it and explodes and begs to be turned up. Finally the obligatory downtempo closer is present and correct, Bring the Pain having a nice shuffle to it and a couple of neat surprises. In short, a classy and encouraging debut from a definite name to watch in 2002.
