Fahrenheit Project Part 2 - Ultimae
Various Artists
Artists from the USA, Sweden, Canada, France and the UK contribute to this truly global village-vibe downtempo CD on superlative French label Ultimae. Fusing trance with world music vibes and smooth electronic ambient, its an assault on the senses and the effect is mesmerising and transporting. Solar Fields Electric Fluid sets the tone wonderfully with its widescreen cinematic dub effects, Canadian trancemeisters Nuclear Ramjet create as unfolding tapestry of beauty with Folding Time, and Chi-ADs When The Effect Came is possibly the most divine, transporting fusion of trance, breakbeat and ambient you will ever hear. A perfect antidote to the harsh comedown of 21st century life.
**Emou
- Still... Pretty Good Year - Freeform (Germany)**
This, my friends, is different. In one of the more imaginative and experimental albums for a long while, Hamburgs Emou (Mario Reinsch) has produced a varied and intelligent set of leftfield grooves. You is one of a number of tracks to feature vocals by Mario and Minouche Petrusch, creating a downtempo tune reminiscent of early Lamb recordings. The cinematic bliss of Le Ciel Est Triste beings a fresh atmosphere, and Lettin Go is an abstract exercise in sonic manipulation. Dancefloor-friendly The Summer is Old makes great use of a vocal hook around an exquisitely-layered smooth percussive German trancer, but its the experimental vibe f Good Year and Love is Blindness that really grabs the attention. Think of Emou as a Germanic Moby, blending his all-too-evident musical prowess with reflective and intelligent emotion.
